What Does it Cost?

There is no upfront cost to join the Air Cadet program. It is funded by the Department of National Defence in partnership with the civilian Air Cadet League of Canada. The civilian sponsor relies on local community support to provide accommodations, training aids and equipment, and program enhancements not otherwise covered.

However, the program is not free to run. We ask cadets to participate in squadron fundraising efforts throughout the year. This allows our squadron to operate and offer exciting extra opportunities.

Can I Get My Pilot License?

The Air Cadet Program offers competitive scholarship opportunities to earn both a glider pilot licence and a power pilot licence. These scholarships are available to cadets who have demonstrated commitment and knowledge of the program and aviation and have high academic preformance.

Do I Have to Join the Military?

No. Cadets are not members of the Canadian Armed Forces and are not required to join the military after leaving the program. However, one of the core aims of the cadet programme is to inspire youth interest in the sea, land, and air activities of the Canadian Forces and potential careers within them.
