The Air Cadet Program offer many opportunities for cadets to learn priceless knowledge even outside of weekly training.
Summer Courses
Cadets can apply to competitive Air Cadet summer camps all over Canada including training in leadership, flying, fitness and sports, survival, military band, pipe band, aerospace, aviation technology, and marksmanship. The courses offered include familiarization, basic, advanced, and national summer training courses.
Field Training Exercise (FTX)
A FTX is a weekend-long survival exercise in which cadets will learn the fundamentals and basics of aircrew survival and improvised shelters. Cadets will learn radio communication, orienteering, how to build improvised shelters out of materials found in the woods or in nature. Cadets are required to complete at least one mandatory FTX per training year, but are encouraged to attend all FTX opportunities.
The Air Cadet Program also offers cadets to go on summer camps which specialize in specific skills. These camps provide courses are expertly made to help build a cadets interest in a specific field, whether it be aviation, musician, survival, sport, leadership, drill or marksmanship. These courses are free to attend and all necessities are provided.
