Training & Activities

Joining 150 Air Cadets means more than wearing a uniform or learning to shine your boots. It’s an opportunity to grow — as a thinker, a leader, and a team player. Our programs blend adventure, discipline, skill-building, and community. Whether you dream of flying planes, leading big projects, mastering new skills, or simply testing your limits — there’s a place for you.

Regular Training

Regular cadet training takes place during our regular parade nights on Mondays from 18:30 to 21:30 (6:30–9:30 pm). We also run additional activities on select weekends throughout the year.

New cadets start at Level 1 with the rank of Air Cadet. Over time, they can progress through to the Advanced Leadership Program (Level 5) and potentially reach the rank of Warrant Officer First Class. Promotions are based on merit, attendance, and progress.

Our Expectations

To participate fully in the program, all cadets must:

  1. Be prepared. Arrive in proper uniform with your notebook, pen, refillable water bottle, and any other required kit.
  2. Be on time. Meet the scheduled timings for all training activities.
  3. Be informed. Read the Weekly Routine Orders, which provide essential details about squadron activities. If you’re not receiving communications, let staff know immediately so we can resolve it.
  4. Be respectful. All cadets are required to adhere to the Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers Code of Conduct, as well as any applicable regional and local standing orders. These are reviewed annually with all cadets.

Aviation & Aerospace

Aviation training teaches cadets the essential topics needed to pursue a glider or power pilot licence.

It also develops learning skills and discipline in a classroom setting, helping cadets become more comfortable with structured learning environments.

Finally, aviation training provides valuable experience relevant to school, high school exams, and future careers in aviation‑related fields.

Skills & Activities

  • Drill & Ceremonial: Learn precision marching, ceremonial protocols, and public-duty fundamentals.
  • Team Sports, Fitness & Healthy Living: From recreational sports to fitness training, cadets improve physical health, resilience, and stamina.
  • Marksmanship, Biathlon & Range Skills: With supervised training, learn shooting and marksmanship skills.
  • Music & Band: For musically inclined cadets, there are opportunities to join our band, learn instrumental techniques, and perform at events like parades or ceremonies.
  • Navigation, Orienteering & Radio Communications: Useful skills for life and cadet-specific roles — map reading, compass navigation, signal protocols, and radio communications.
  • Leadership, Citizenship & Teamwork Workshops: Cadets develop career track skills like leadership, public-speaking, teamwork, citizenship, and community service.

Air Crew Survival

Cadets learn survival skills — building resilience, resourcefulness, and real-life readiness:

  • Wilderness Survival & Field Training: Build shelters, start fires, secure water, and signal for help — often through overnight field exercises.
  • Navigation & Ground-to-Air Signalling: Navigate with map and compass, and use signalling methods critical in rescue scenarios.
  • Survival Theory & Aircrew Prep: Master survival kits and emergency protocols for land or air situations.

This stream builds self-reliance, teamwork, and confidence through real challenge.
